As a senior-level strategic entrepreneurial leader, the General Manager, Pac-12 Enterprises comes with in-depth insight into today's evolving media marketplace. The candidate has a unique combination of executive management, business development, and production operations leadership experience. The candidate has hands-on comprehension and a proven track record of developing, executing, and maximizing lucrative opportunities for production /media content organizations.
The successful candidate is a proven team builder, able to assemble a diverse team of people, practices, and processes to launch revenue models, by bringing on new clients. As a strong leader, motivator, and mentor, who can get the most out of every person, with a management style that can best be described as hands-on, candid, and results-focused.
This position is hybrid. It requires a significant presence at the production facility based at Bishop Ranch in San Ramon, CA. The ideal candidate would be located near the facility, or within the Pacific time zone.
Responsibilities:
• Primary liaison with Pac-12 membership on all matters related to the facility and production needs.
• Responsible for securing new clients to Pac-12 studios, pricing productions, staffing productions, billing clients, etc.
• Partner with human resources to create and execute a staffing plan, including freelance and existing Pac-12 staff where applicable
• Partner with the finance team on long-range financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
• Day-to-day oversight for execution, staff, and budget for:
• Production Operations planning and execution for live events in FY25 and beyond (this would include venue-end, as well as facility)
• Engineering/transmission
• Facilities, including landlord and required vendor relationships
• Optimizing facility / staff utilization
• Include identifying outside clients (collegiate or otherwise).
• Partnering with outside service providers as needed
• Ensuring that all users, Pac-12 or otherwise, are provided with a high level of service and attention.
• Drive forward any transitions the facility will require to meet future needs
Requirements & Experience:
• Experience managing and operating a live TV / studio production business including but not limited to business development, sales, marketing, and P&L responsibilities.
• Deep understanding of studio business models and clientele for live sports & events.
• Have wide industry knowledge of people, practices, processes, technology, and standards.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
• Superb verbal, written, and interpersonal skills and outstanding presentation skills; be equally effective in formal and informal settings. Communicates consistently and effectively with staff as a leader responsible for managing a team within a collaborative organization.
• Drive to succeed, being entrepreneurial and self-motivated, with a ''roll-up-the-sleeves'' attitude and ''hands-on'' style, which is assertive and focused on driving results, yet tactful and team-oriented.
• Proactive, ''take-charge'' ability to serve as a partner and member of the senior management team.
• Ability to be decisive, quick, forward-thinking and to generate well-informed ideas
• Ability to travel as required.
